Guests 2007

John
Kirkpatrick
There's so much to say about this man, it's hard to know
where to begin! He’s been at the forefront of English traditional
music for over thirty years, and his energy and magnetism are
still unparalleled. He's played with the Albion Band, Steeleye
Span, Richard Thompson, Brass Monkey and Band of Hope
and currently plays with Chris Parkinson in Sultans of Squeeze.
A wizard on all sorts of squeezeboxes, a magnificent songwriter
and the possessor of a wicked sense of humour.

The Devil’s
Interval
Jim Causley, Lauren McCormick and Emily Portman sing in powerful three-part
harmony and have made a huge impact on the folk music scene in recent months.
Their maturity of style belies their youthful appearance! Jim hails from Devon,
Lauren from London and Emily from the Northeast, and they met while on the
University of Newcastle's folk music degree course - they were some of the first,
and finest graduates! More recently, the Devil's Interval appeared alongside
Waterson:Carthy on their Frost and Fire tour and on their 2006 album 'Holy
Heathens and the Old Green Man'- a great accolade indeed.

Mary MacNamara
Mary comes from a musical family in County Clare in the west
of Ireland. Her unassuming style on the anglo-concertina and
deep ‘feel’ for the music win her many new fans whenever she
plays in the UK. In the farmhouse kitchens of Clare, Mary learned
a distinctive repertoire and relaxed, uncluttered style. As a teenager,
Mary won many All Ireland titles, both as a soloist and in duet with
fiddler Martin Hayes, who shared her empathy and understanding
of the local musical style and repertoire. Come and listen to a
fascinating array of jigs, reels, hornpipes and barndances from
a consummate musician and a captivating performer.

Jim & Lynette
Eldon
Jim’s eclectic choice of material is always delivered in a totally
convincing manner, and captivates audiences from the pleasure
boats of Bridlington to last year’s Latitude festival in Suffolk.
Lynette is a champion clog dancer and the two are great
traditional performers. They last performed at the Traditional
Music Day in 2003, and it's great to have them back again.

Housewives’
Choice
A newly-formed band, made up of past masters
of English dance music: we are pleased to
welcome them for one of their first performances.
Members of the band will be also be seen in the
Concertina Corner, song and music sessions!
Lively music on squeezeboxes, banjo and brass
for dancing and listening. They will be playing for
the afternoon ceilidh and hosting music
sessions, as well as contributing to song events
and the Concertina Corner (Ralph Jordan).

Old Hat Concert
Party
This Suffolk-based group has members aged from twelve to
over eighty, and includes stepdancers, singers, musicians
and story-tellers. As is customary, they will be hosting the
evening, but you can also see more of them during the day
at various events. It's always hard to predict exactly who
will turn up, but it's a good bet you'll find: Reg Reader,
Tom Knight, Jessica, Amy and David Chilvers, Steve
Matthews, Percy and Doreen West, Ray Hubbard, Cyril
Barber, Richard and Ben Davies, Lenny Whiting and
John and Katie
Howson, and probably a fair few others too!

Rig-a-Jig-Jig
This Norfolk-based band will again be joining
us to help keep the flag flying for the traditional
music of East Anglia.
Dave Hunt
Old friend and favourite dance caller, Dave will be back with us this year to
call the dances for the afternoon ceilidh in inimitable style.
Other regular guests and session leaders include:
Kerry Fletcher, Roger Digby, Colin Cater, Chris Bartram, Ian Prettyman and Maggie Moore.
