Singer: Mr Woodcock
Father and son are the candidates for Vaughan Williams’ only singer in Scole at the end of his last ever visit to Norfolk for folk melodies. The father, John Frederick Woodcock, gave both his forenames to his son Frederick John, and son followed father in to the business of blacksmithing but not into the trade of publican. However, John Frederick’s stepson, Robert Reeve did manage both occupations and continued as village blacksmith until 1950.
