King’s Lynn North End 1st Sep 1906

Narrative by Alan Helsdon:

In 1906 ‘Ralph and Adeline took The Warren at Meldreth, near Cambridge, for a month during July and August, where he collected songs in the district.’ According to Michael Kennedy he noted songs in Cambridgeshire from August 20th to 31st. From there it was only three stops to Cambridge to pick up the London to Lynn train again, and Ralph spent a day there on Saturday 1st September, noting 10 songs from Messrs Elmer, Crisp, Leatherday, Carter and Donger and presumably visiting both the North End and the Union in the process, but we have even fewer details of this visit than of January 1905.
