A Maypole isn’t just for May Day or even May!

Purchased in 2004 as part of the Waveney Maypole Project, the maypole is available for hire for school projects, PTA events, fetes etc. Please note we do not provide a demonstration team of dancers, but do provide some basic instructions in booklet form and can sometimes provide a tutor.

We updated our documentation thanks to Nora Rodes – a young American singer and scholar visiting England in 2022. Nora came to stay in Suffolk for a fortnight and got stuck into wonderful tradition.

I just wanted to send a quick email to thank you for making my final Arts Festival such a huge success. Because of your support and contribution to the day, children were able to have an amazing experience and participate in a range of brilliant activities.

Your workshop helped to raise aspirations and celebrate what makes Sidegate such a unique place to be.

Creativity was buzzing!

It has been wonderful to work with you and I will certainly miss this collaboration when I leave at the end of the school year.

We are fortunate to have a new teacher who will be taking on the role of leading arts and culture at the school to ensure the arts continue to thrive at Sidegate.
